Privacy

Your data never leaves your phone.

Whey to Go is built so your health data stays yours. Here is exactly how.

Last updated 19 August 2026.

It lives on your device

Everything you log - meals, weight, training, supplements, the lot - is stored on your phone, not on our servers. There is no account to create and no password to leak, because there is no login.

Sync is yours, through iCloud

If you use more than one device, your data syncs through your own private iCloud account. It moves between your devices via Apple's encrypted storage - it never passes through, or is readable by, us.

If you join the waitlist

When you enter your email on this site we store it - only with your consent, and only to email you about Whey to Go. We use double opt-in (you confirm via a link), never sell or share the list, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe that removes you immediately. Ask us to delete your address any time and it is gone. We hold a one-way hash of your IP at sign-up purely to limit abuse - never the raw address.

Anonymous analytics

To improve the app we measure anonymous, content-free usage - which screens and buttons get used, never what you log, your name, or anything you type. There is no account behind it and no cross-app tracking; it goes only to our own server, is never sold, and you can switch it off in Settings at any time (the legal basis is your consent). We derive a coarse country from the request IP at the moment of receipt to understand where the app is used - the raw IP is never stored, only the two-letter country.

Ads

Whey to Go is ad-free on every paid plan, and on the free starter tier. There is one optional ad-supported tier that unlocks more features in exchange for showing ads (through Google AdMob) - your choice. The ads are non-personalised: the data you log is never used to target them and is never shared with the advertiser. If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland we ask for your consent through Google's standard consent form before any ad loads, and you can review or withdraw that choice from Settings. Upgrade, or switch to an ad-free tier, and ads are gone.

Affiliate referrals

Some people share a link to Whey to Go and earn a commission when it leads to a purchase. To pay them, we have to be able to tell that a purchase followed their link - and there is no way to know that without connecting the two. So this is the one place where we deliberately join a click to a purchase, and we do it with the least that can possibly work: a random marker that means nothing on its own. It carries no name, no email address, no device identifier, and nothing you have logged. It exists for exactly one purpose - working out which affiliate to pay - and it is used for nothing else.

None of what you log is involved, and none of it moves. Your meals, weight, training and everything else still live on your device only, exactly as described above. This changes nothing about that. The marker travels with the purchase through Apple's own systems and comes back to us attached to a sale, never to a person.

The affiliate themselves never learns who you are. They see counts and totals - clicks, conversions, commission - and never an individual, an order, a name or an address.

We keep a marker only while commission can still be worked out or corrected from it, because refunds and chargebacks arrive weeks after a sale; after that it goes. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a referral programme and paying the people in it correctly. If you would rather not be counted at all, reach the app store listing directly instead of through an affiliate's link.

Where your data goes, and the legal basis

The little that leaves your device goes to: Apple (app distribution, and iCloud / Apple Health if you turn them on), Google (AdMob, only on the ad tier), Open Food Facts (the search text or barcode when you look up a food), and our own analytics server. Apple and Google may process data in the United States under the UK/EU data-transfer safeguards in their own terms; Open Food Facts is hosted in the EU. We rely on your consent for analytics, ads and waitlist email, and on our legitimate interest in a secure, working service for minimal abuse-prevention logging. We do not make automated decisions about you and do not profile you.

Fair pricing

The app is free for 7 days, then $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year - or a single $49.99 payment for lifetime access. Payment is handled entirely by the app store you buy from - we never see your card details. Pricing never touches the data you log: we never see it, and never sell it.

This website

wheytogo.app uses two cookieless analytics tools to count visits: Cloudflare Web Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics. Neither sets a cookie, stores anything on your device, or builds a profile of you. Both run on this website only - neither is in the app, which is measured separately as described above.

Ahrefs records the page you viewed, the page that referred you there, your browser and device from the user-agent, your language preference and your screen size, and derives a country and city from your IP address as the request arrives. Ahrefs states that the raw IP address is discarded and never stored in its database or logs, and that it does not track people across devices, websites or apps - each data point is limited to one device, one website and one day. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful; because nothing is stored on your device, no consent banner is required. Beyond the waitlist email above, the site collects nothing.

Retention & deletion

On-device data is yours: delete the app (and its iCloud data) and it is gone - we keep no copy. A waitlist email is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Analytics is anonymous and content-free, so there is nothing tied to you to delete. An affiliate referral marker is kept only while a commission can still be calculated or corrected from it, and it identifies nobody.

Your rights

For on-device data you need nothing from us - it is already entirely in your control. For any data we do hold (a waitlist email), under UK and EU GDPR you can access, correct, export or delete it, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. Email us to exercise these rights. You can also complain to the UK ICO (ico.org.uk) or your local EEA data-protection authority.

Who we are

Whey to Go is operated by Matt Hesketh (a UK-based sole developer), the data controller for the little data described here. Contact: hello@wheytogo.app.
