Steps calculator.
How far 10,000 steps actually takes you, and what it burns. Most step tables assume one stride length for every body. This one uses yours.
How this is worked out
Your stride, not an average one. Stride length is about 0.415 of your standing height (0.413 for women), which is the figure the step-length literature settles on. That matters more than it sounds: at 1.55 m and 1.95 m, the same 10,000 steps differ by more than a kilometre and a half. Where you give no height, this falls back to the 0.762 m average every other step table quotes, and says so.
The calories. Distance and time give a walking pace, and the pace picks a MET value from the 2024 Compendium of Physical Activities - the same table the calories burned calculator and the app itself use. Calories are then MET x 3.5 x your weight in kg x minutes / 200. A pace between two published bands takes the slower one, so this under-claims rather than over-claims.
What it cannot know. Terrain, load, and how much of your day was already counted elsewhere. A step count is a coarser input than a measured distance, so treat the calorie figure as a reasonable estimate and not a budget to spend against. If your watch measured the walk, believe the watch.

This is an estimate and a starting point, not medical advice. Every equation of this kind is a population average, so your real burn can sit a few hundred kcal either side of it. Track for two or three weeks and adjust to what actually happens on the scales. If you are pregnant, managing a health condition or unsure, speak to a doctor or dietitian first.
There is no account here and no tracking cookie, so nothing you enter is saved to a profile or tied to you. The sums run on our server, and your answers travel in the page address, which is what makes a result shareable. Treat a link you send as carrying those numbers with it.
